VOTE them out...its that simple

6 weeks ago both the house and the senate voted down the new energy bill which would have extend the current Federal Tax Credits (ITC) for new solar and wind farms. These credits are a critical part of what makes these deals pencil out which means that without them in 2009 and beyond the future holds very little hope for the private sector to be able to finance and build more clean farms (solar/wind).

As a big advocate of Solar and Wind and an entrepreneur I’m very angry. So angry that I took the time to look up all the votes to see which one of our elected officials was guilty of voting down this crucial vote. I usually try and stay away from politics, like many, it makes me sick to know that some politicians are simply bribed in broad daylight by the powerful lobbyist/companies to vote against peoples will and for special interest. But in this case I must do something, even and small as my posting here on EFF.com. So this posting is the result of voicing my anger towards all those house and senate members who voted “NO” followed by the simple solution, “Vote them out”.

These people were elected by us to work for us. For far too long they have lived fat and happy getting kickbacks in the form of election contributions while we all stood by and allowed it to happen because “its politics”. We’ll I think too many of us are no longer interested in the current definition of “Politics” and would like to do something about it; “VOTE THEM OUT”.

So on my little soap box here on EFF.com I would like to ask that we all do our part and VOTE, and ask everyone you know to do the same.

Who do we vote out specifically? Also, is there a way to see exactly what was written on the new energy bill?

The lawmakers (R) to be exact, which means voting in those who appreciate and fight for clean energy bills. Im no expert but am very clear that campaign contributions are the only reason these bills get killed and we continue with the same mess which is the main cause for all the unrest in the world.

here is more info on the bill and where it stands today. Ill look up the the names of those who voted against the clean energy bill and post their names... stay tuned

"Federal Solar ITC Campaign

7/30/08 UPDATE

It's been a disappointing week thus far in Washington for the expiring clean energy tax incentives. On Tuesday, July 29, Senator Reid brought up H.R. 6049 again, to test the political waters for S. 3335. That cloture vote (motion to proceed to debate and a full floor vote on the bill) was lost by 53-43, marking the third failed vote on the bill in the past two months.

Then yesterday, July 29, Senator Reid brought up a cloture vote on S. 3335, introduced last week by Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT). The vote failed by 51-43.

The White House issued a veto threat on S. 3335 before the vote, and Republican senators are justifying votes against cloture as a move to keep the Senate focused on an oil drilling bill instead. This 'oil speculation' bill would lift the moratorium on off-shore oil drilling and open federal lands to oil shale exploration."

Sassan,

Do you have the list of the "No" votes? Or a link to the site where you researched this? It seems like there must have been some Democrats who voted against it if the vote was 51-43.

Thanks.
